So what, you ask? Many organizations have Social Procurement Programs – that means that they are making a strategic effort to ensure that they are purchasing their products and services from a variety of businesses, with different types of owners. This could be women-owned and operated businesses (like in our case), businesses owned by specific ethnic groups and/or businesses owned by persons with disabilities.
You may be thinking, “Oh…quotas…” Research shows that these three groups in particular, have been disadvantaged in the market place in the past. BUT more importantly, excluding business owners who have varying lenses through which they operate and see the world, actually puts YOUR business at a disadvantage!
Women Business Enterprises (WBE) Canada Council was founded by a group of corporations in order to provide certification standards for their supplier diversity programs. In fact, WBE has the largest database of Canadian women-owned businesses. To become WBE Certified, WeLoveLearning participated in a rigorous process that is now complete!
And now that we are WBE Certified, it would be so appreciated if you would share this news with persons in your purchasing and procurement department! Thanks, in advance, for helping to spread the word!
