Often you have content that needs to be available just-in-time, with just enough information to support your audience. Microlearning are short (usually around 3-5 minute) chunks of content or video that address one topic, and complete one learning objective . For example: ‘Cleaning your workstation after shift’. These help to engage audiences with increasingly short attention spans, absorb small amounts of learning, at the time they need it.
Are there chunks of learning that your audience needs to reference often? Augment your more formal training with these short, quick bursts of information.
A SAMPLE OF OUR WORK
MOBILE GAME
Post-course boosting is an important part of any learning experience. In this case, our client had rolled out several programs over a two-year period and wanted to find a way to reinforce the key learnings to their 2000+ members. So we designed a mobile game that could be played on Smartphones. Four episodes were rolled out over a four-week period. We’ve done a screen capture to show you how one of the games works (but you need to imagine that you are playing this on your phone). Enjoy!
AUGMENTED REALITY
Augmented Reality is proving to be a very useful tool for providing employees with just-in-time training in the workplace. AR brings some elements of the virtual world into our real world and in doing so, enhances the things we see, hear and feel. Imagine working in a warehouse where you need to operate large pieces of equipment. The operator arrives at a forklift that he/she has never used before, but is able to scan a sticker on the machine with a Smartphone – the result? A 1-minute video appears to review the important safety features of the machine. How’s that for efficient just-in-time training?
INFOGRAPHIC
Infographics are a tidy and effective way to share a lot of information in a visual way while showing the inter-connectivity or relationships between the different pieces of information. In this case, we created an infographic to use as part of the materials for a live, classroom training session. The learners were provided with hard copies and could take extras back to their workplaces with them, to share with others. The infographic was such a hit that the client then asked us to roll it out across the organization and create an entire communications campaign around it. This resource continues to be a popular one.
ANIMATED VIDEO
Videos are a type of digital asset that can be used as a stand-alone lesson or incorporated into a more robust eLearning solution. Just like it’s easy to binge-watch Netflix, you can find yourself coming up for air after hours on YouTube! Use this to your training advantage!! In this case, we worked with our client to identify key content about the history and evolution of their organization and then designed a series of 5 animated videos for use on their website as well as during live events.
Enjoy this first one!
