Let your fingers do the walking and let your kids take the lead
With additional variants sweeping the world again and again, children have become one of the hardest-hit groups in society. Being isolated from friends at school and not having daily access to qualified educators will have repercussions for generations to come. It is too early to know just what the impacts will be, but I am certain that lots of research on this topic will emerge over the coming decade.
In the meantime, I want to share with you this great resource site that I recently came across, for educating kids at home. While this site doesn’t offer lessons on every topic, it does go deep into two important ones – math and science. And they offer both online as well as offline resources.
You may know/remember that I home-schooled my son Nick for many years. Although it was by necessity because of his learning disabilities, it was a really enjoyable experience for both of us. Naturally, I tapped into all of the eLearning options that I could find and followed his interests as well as the provincial curriculum. As a result, by the time he was in grade 7, he was working through an online course at Harvard, on a topic that he was intensely interested in. So all to say – let your fingers do the walking and let your kids take the lead.
